1/4” Jack
The 1/4" jack was invented for use in telephone switchboards in the 19th century and is still widely used. In its original configuration, the outside diameter of the "sleeve" conductor is 1/4 inch.
Mini Plug
The “Mini plug” or “Aux plug is a smaller version of the 1/4 inch jack. You may be more familiar with it as the plug on your headphones or ear buds.
