Hand Sewing
Hand sewing is part of the whole process of machine sewing. There are times when you will want to hand sew. Watch these 2 videos and let’s try some of the stitches.
With the muslin, thread and needle you can pick up in class (anytime tomorrow), hand sew for your assignment due Saturday.
If you are VERTUAL, your material ready for you to pick up Thursday. (It’s on the table outside the main office)
Hand sewing (6 stitches)
Read the directions completely
The rectangle of muslin is 10” x 10”. Fold one end in 1” and sew a catch stitch to hold the edge down. Next to that stitch (about 1/2” over) start your next stitch. You can do this for each of the other hand stitches in the video. Be sure to mark each with the name of the stitch. Place your blanket stitch on the opposite end as your catch stitch.
Be sure to run your stitches all the way across the fabric.
You will take a picture of you work and upload it here to your folder.
Once uploaded, change the name to “Hand Sewing”.
(You are graded for the name change as well)
This is assignment #3.
