After 30 years Finneytown will have a new mascot made by Randall A. Kent, Class of 1972.

Clay Sculpture

Finneytown “Hall of Fame” alumnus and one of the current Finneytown wrestling coaches, is once again rising to the needs of Finneytown Athletics agreeing to design and build an updated version of the Finneytown Wildcat mascot. This will be the 3rd time over the last 50 years that Coach Kent will be making the costume that will help lead the pride of Finneytown with the student body, alumni, and the Finneytown community.

Mr. Kent has made all 3 Wildcat mascots that have been used by the school starting back in 1975 when he began his company, “Stagecraft, Inc.” during his senior year at the University of Cincinnati. The Wildcat was the 2nd mascot Coach Kent made after the company began - the first was the University of Cincinnati’s Bearcat. Both were donated to their schools.

Finneytown Athletic Director Gerald Warmack and Coach Randall Kent pose with the clay sculpture that will be molded and cast to make the head of the new mascot. The body, hands and feet will be fashioned by Mr. Kent and sewn to complete the Wildcat’s look. Projected to be completed by August of this year.

In 1994, in order to recognize and honor their daughter who had been murdered at Ohio State as a freshman student, Stephanie Hummer’s parents asked Coach Kent to design a new Wildcat mascot. They donated the costume to the high school and that mascot  has been there ever since.
